Fucoidan usage in skin care
As the most important part of skin care, skin moisture is very easy to lose, but it is also necessary to moisturize the skin while replenishing water to ensure excessive water loss and lock the skin in time, which is very helpful for water retention. Moreover, sufficient water in the skin can drive the speed of skin metabolism, which can maintain the activity of the skin. For the appearance of spots and wrinkles, It will have a good preventive effect. It can be seen that moisturizing can prevent many skin conditions
Insufficient water intake, dry air, sunlight, smoking, age and other reasons may cause dry skin symptoms. Don't underestimate the dryness of the skin. If you don't take care of it in time, the dryness may be aggravated. At the beginning, the dry skin shows redness and small cracks. If the drying condition continues to be serious, scale or peeling will occur. Cracks may even cause skin cracking, reaching the depth of the dermis, causing infection
Researchers from the School of Chemistry and Materials Engineering of Jiangnan University found that fucoidan can be used as an excellent natural humectant in skin care products. The researchers first tested the hygroscopicity and moisture retention. Under the conditions of 81% and 43% humidity and 20 ℃ room temperature, the hygroscopicity and moisture retention type of fucoidan were tested respectively, and compared with common raw materials such as glycerin, butanediol and sodium alginate.
The study selected 20 qualified volunteers to test the medial arm of the subjects. The subject entered the test room half an hour in advance (temperature: 20 ℃, relative humidity: 50% ± 2%), and exposed his hands and forearms into the test state. Draw several 3cm * 3cm small areas with an interval of more than 1cm on the same arm, evenly apply different samples to the test area with a fingertip, and measure the skin moisture content of each area with a skin moisture tester.
1. Moisture absorption: CEFSF>glycerin>butanediol>sodium alginate within the first eight hours under 45% humidity; At 81% relative humidity, in the first eight hours, fucoidan>butanediol>glycerin>sodium alginate; After eight hours, the hygroscopicity of CEFSF slows down, which may be related to the structure of its polyhydroxy macromolecule;
2. Moisturizing property: under 81% relative humidity, fucoidan>glycerin>butanediol>alginate, indicating that fucoidan has good moisturizing property and can replace common humectants.
3. Inhibiting skin water loss: 3% and 5% fucoidan have better ability to inhibit water loss than glycerin. A series of studies have shown that fucoidan can be used as an excellent humectant in skin care cosmetics.
